It just gets bigger and better every time - Limelight HR

We’re so excited to be sponsoring the Harrogate Film Festival in it’s third year. It just gets bigger and better every time!

One of the highlights of the first festival was meeting Dave Gilbank who won the Audience Choice Award for his brilliant short film Polterheist. The film has gone on to huge success as a feature film, premiering in Leicester Square and now showing as part of the Harrogate Film Festival so make sure you go and see it! Last year we all battled through the snow to attend the Awards ceremony and I had the pleasure of sitting at a table with Javier Badillo who travelled all the way from Canada. He won the Audience Choice Award for the hilarious Fatal Rhapsody. He’s also gone on to achieve great things, so the festival is proving to be a fantastic opportunity for filmmakers to achieve the recognition and support that they so desperately need.

Whilst supporting the filmmakers, the Film Festival also provides great exposure for Harrogate. The festival attracts entries from across the globe for the short film competition and brings people from near and far to our beautiful town for the screenings, experiential cinema and workshops. This is an achievement we should all support and be proud of.

Limelight HR is sponsoring the Comedy Award again this year because we believe everyone needs some fun and laughter in their lives! I set up Limelight HR because I think the right approach to managing staff can make a huge difference to the success of a business. And HR doesn’t have to be stuffy or boring, you can be innovative and have fun with it! Working in large, creative media businesses such as the BBC, Comedy Central and Nickelodeon I learnt that an imaginative, fun, approach to HR makes it more engaging and more impactful. Limelight HR works with media, creative and ‘quirky’ businesses to help them manage their people in a way that reflects their brand and isn’t too bogged down in policy and process. We help bring the company vision and goals to life through the staff. The best way to do that it to create a lively, fun and rewarding culture where employees are motivated to perform at their very best. So sponsoring the Comedy Award of the Harrogate Film Festival was the perfect fit for us.

With so much on offer both in and around the town and at the festival you can really make a day of it. Last year we had lunch at Gino D’Campo (the great man himself joined us!), watched the Comedy Screening and then enjoyed drinks at a few local bars whilst debating which film should win. No doubt we’ll do something similar this year (without Gino) and the Big Harrogate Film Quiz is in the evening so a perfect way to round off the day. The Comedy screening is always a sell out so make sure you book your tickets in advance and we’ll hopefully see you there.
