What’s on for families?
Back to BlogFor the last two years we've screened family screenings such as night at the Museum and Toy Story. This year is no different as we bring a couple of Mary Poppins themed events to the town for all the family to enjoy. These aren't just sit and watch a film events though, in true Harrogate Film Festival style - we're getting interactive!
Mary Poppins Animation Workshop
Draw a chalk drawing and leap into it, just like Bert’s in Disney’s classic, ‘Mary Poppins’! Discover movie special effects and stop motion animation techniques in this magical animation workshop for all the family. Ride a horse, visit a circus or dance with Penguins. Where will Mary and your imagination take you?
Led by animator David Bunting (pictured), who crafted storyboards for 'Dennis & Gnasher Unleashed!' and animated on 'The Tigger Movie', you’ll be sure to have a Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious time!

Mary Poppins (1964) - with magic!
This is going to be magical! We’re screening the legendary Mary Poppins in the historically glorious Royal Pump Room Museum. In true Mary Poppins style, there will be a 30-minute magic show, with a professional magician, before the film starts. Children might even learn a trick or two and some are inspired by the film itself!
We will then go onto film the 1964 classic starring Julie Andrews embarking on a series of fantastical adventures.
